The Celebrations Magazine

The Celebrations Magazine – October-December 2013

Indians carry a bit of ‘India’ with them where ever they go.

This ‘India’ — sometimes effortlessly and sometimes otherwise, and to a varying degree — fuses and blends with the cultures we come to share and embrace. I feel, this fusion is both cathartic and epiphanous.

Becoming British or American, Australian or European, doesn’t change the innate ‘Indian-ness’ in most of us. So, we try our best balancing acts as we dangle with our roots afar, to weave a world of nostalgia snuggled inside the harsh core of our often challenging circumstances.

‘The Celebrations’, a festive quarterly lifestyle magazine by Akash Radio, is an effort to mirror our changing lives and achievements.

This lifestyle magazine comes with an eclectic mix of content contributed by some very special people around the world. In this launch edition, we discover Arunachal as Shakespeare goes Bollywood. We dress up in shimmering clothes and learn to get a trendy make-up. The cover story is an effort to discover the changing role of women while the technology piece gives a reality check.

There are some strands of human relationships sewn in, an update on Brit-Asian music scene, and the Spirit of Christmas.

‘The Celebrations’ is dedicated to the vibrant festivals and colours of India. Happy festivities to everyone celebrating Dhanteras, Diwali, Guru Nanak Gurpurab, Christmas and more.

I leave you with Miller Williams thought:
Have compassion for everyone you meet, even if they don’t want it.
What appears bad manners, an ill temper or cynicism is always a sign of things no ears have heard, no eyes have seen.
You do not know what wars are going on down there where the spirit meets the bone.
Love and Peace.
