…and welcome to our summer issue. If you’re starting to panic about how to keep the kids entertained over the long summer holidays, don’t despair. We’ve got lots of ideas for things to do with the kids in and around York, whatever the weather and whatever your budget.
Whatever you get up to, have a good one and see
you in the autumn!
This is the first edition of Little Vikings, the magazine for parents of 0-11 year olds living in and visiting York. It’s a free, bi-monthly magazine that’s available across York and just beyond in schools, nurseries, community centres, cafes, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, shops, gyms and many of the other places that parents go.
With the imminent arrival of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, the first edition has a cycling theme. There are tips for getting kids onto two wheels, an interview with Olympic cyclist Lizzie Armitstead and our tips for enjoying the Grand Depart.
Cycling aside, there’s also lots of information about what’s on for families in York in May and June and what’s coming up this summer. In the food section you’ll find a review of breakfast at York newcomer Your Bike Shed and more ideas for places for family-friendly breakfasts in York. At the back of the issue there’s a handy guide to York’s attractions, parks, adventure playgrounds, swimming pools, cinemas and theatres so that families will never be short of inspiration and cries of ‘I’m bored’ will be kept to a minimum.
